Every great story begins with extraordinary women.
In 1908, twenty visionary young women founded Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, creating more than the first Black Greek-letter sorority. They established a movement that would expand opportunities, strengthen communities, and inspire generations of women to lead with purpose and serve with distinction.
The twenty pearls surrounding the portrait of a Soror honors each of these remarkable Founders and the enduring legacy they entrusted to every Woman of Alpha Kappa Alpha.
The woman in the center, who is accentuated with beaded hair, jewelry and other embroidered accents, represents the generations who continue to carry their vision forward. Her confident expression reminds us that the legacy of the Twenty Pearls since 1908, is not simply something we celebrate—it is something we are called to live.
Every artistic detail was chosen with intention. The beloved words Sincere and Rare are embroidered front and center as a tribute to the qualities that distinguish AKAs.
