Some of the most meaningful moments in my life didn’t come dressed as grand gestures or delivered with perfect words. They arrived quietly—wrapped in presence, love, and intention. In seasons of celebration or deep grief, what mattered most were the people who simply showed up.
This isn’t a post about what I’ve given.
It’s about what I’ve received—and what I’ll never forget.
Here are a few of the ways I’ve been held—often before I even knew I needed it:
1. The Texts That Came Without Asking
There were days when I felt overwhelmed, off balance, or just not myself. And then—ding—a message would appear:
“Just checking on you, sis.”
“You crossed my mind today.”
“I got you.”
Short. Simple. Soulful.
The kind of check-in that doesn’t ask for a reply, but offers a reminder: You’re not invisible. You matter—even in the silence.
2. The Friends Who Sat in Silence
Sometimes the most powerful act of love is stillness.
No advice. No fixing. No need to fill the air with words.
Just someone willing to sit beside you in the hard moments and hold space—unrushed, unafraid. The kind of presence that says, You don’t have to be okay to be worthy of company.
That kind of companionship? It’s ministry.
3.The Ones Who Showed Up in the Middle of the Mess
Life gets noisy—loss, transition, heartbreak, disappointment.
And in the midst of all that, someone knocks. Or leaves dinner on your porch. Or texts, “I’m on my way.”
I’ve had moments when I didn’t know what to ask for—but someone came anyway.
No questions. No performance. Just love. And it didn’t fix everything, but it softened the edges and helped me find my breath again.
4. Those Who Sent the Unexpected Gift
Out of nowhere, a package arrived. A note. Some flowers. A thoughtful something—small in size, enormous in meaning.
Maybe it wasn’t about the gift itself, but what it whispered: I see you. I’m thinking of you. You’re not alone.
In moments when the world felt heavy, those surprises reminded me that kindness travels far—and sometimes, it arrives right on time.
5. The Cheerleaders No One Saw
There are friends who cheer when the world is watching. And then, there are the ones who clap for the quiet victories.
They celebrated the day I held a boundary. The morning I got out of bed when it felt impossible. The moment I said “no” and meant it.
They didn’t need proof of success—they saw me. And reminded me of who I was, even when I forgot.
6. The Ones Who Let Me Be Soft
As a woman who often leads, decides, and holds space for others, being soft can sometimes feel like a luxury.
But then come the women who invite my tenderness. Who make room for my tears. Who don’t need me to perform strength, because they trust in the quiet power underneath it.
They hand me grace instead of expectations. And in that grace, I exhale.
To My Circle — I Got You Too
If you’re reading this and you’ve ever shown up for me in any of these ways: thank you.
You’ve given me more than support—you’ve given me belonging.
And if you’re wondering how to show up for someone you love… start small. Be consistent. Be quiet if you need to. But be there.
Because showing up—quietly, intentionally, and without applause—is one of the most powerful ways we love.
