HONORING THE FOUNDING LEGACY OF PHI BETA SIGMA
Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated was founded on January 9, 1914, at Howard University by three visionary men—A. Langston Taylor, Leonard F. Morse, and Charles I. Brown—who believed that brotherhood, scholarship, and service should be the guiding light for generations to come.

Commemorating the brotherhood of Sigma men, this double-sided quilt is a soft, usable keepsake—a timeless gift for self or others that can be passed down from generation to generation.
This Gift Quilt honors the three visionary Founders who, on January 9, 1914, laid the foundation for a Brotherhood rooted in scholarship, service, and purpose.
The front of the quilt showcases hand-rendered portraits of the Founders, each adorned in formal attire with embroidered name banners. The iconic Greek letters and “1914” stand boldly beneath them, flanked by three stars and the powerful phrase:
“In numbers though were three…”—a tribute to vision over volume, and purpose over position..
The back showcases the official Phi Beta Sigma crest, surrounded by the guiding principles of Brotherhood, Scholarship, and Service, and the timeless motto: Culture for Service and Service for Humanity..

So much of who we are as people of African descent has been passed down from generation to generation. My grandmother taught me to quilt the traditional way when I was 21. Ever since, I have been evolving into the textile artist I am today.
Quilts can heal, inspire, comfort, and share generational stories.
I created my line of gift quilts to touch more people. They are for those quiet moments when we do the hard work of dreaming, reflecting, healing, deciding, and motivating ourselves. I want to support people through the emotional journeys of life while making it easy to give a truly meaningful gift that warms the body and fortifies the spirit.
