From 1913 to now, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. has stood as a beacon of strength, leadership, and unwavering commitment to justice. In every Soror who answers the call to serve, the legacy of the 22 Founders lives on.
To honor that history and uplift the women who continue to move the mission forward, the Forward with Fortitude Gift QuiltTM was born. Commissioned by International President Elsie Cooke-Holmes, this quilt embodies her vision —designed as a keepsake of love, purpose, and pride.

A Tribute to Delta Sisterhood, Strength, and Legacy
Commemorating the power and purpose of the women of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, this special edition quilt is a soft, heirloom-quality keepsake—made to be wrapped in, gifted with pride, and passed down through generations.
The quilt’s design reflects the heartbeat of the Sorority: intergenerational leadership, unbreakable unity, and a future built on vision and service.
At the center, four women stand arm in arm—each representing a different generation of Delta. One reaches forward, guiding the way. Nestled within the iconic red Delta symbol, these women embody the essence of what it means to move Forward with Fortitude.
Their garments and adornments feature subtle yet powerful embroidered details—from the 1913 founding date to Delta symbols on their sleeves and jewelry—each touch celebrating identity, purpose, and pride.

And on the reverse, a cream background features the official Delta Sigma Theta crest, encircled by the Sorority’s guiding principles: Sisterhood, Scholarship, Service & Social Action

So much of who we are as women of African descent has been passed down from generation to generation. My grandmother taught me to quilt the traditional way when I was 21. Ever since, I have been evolving into the textile artist I am today.
Quilts can heal, inspire, comfort, and share generational stories.
I created my line of Gift QuiltsTM to touch more people. They are for those quiet moments when we do the hard work of dreaming, reflecting, healing, deciding, and motivating ourselves. As a proud and active member of the Divine Nine, I know the undeniable power of sisterhood. As Black women, our shared experiences have shaped a bond that is deep, resilient, and sacred. We are truly stronger together—and that truth has inspired every stitch of this work.
This marks my second special edition quilt created exclusively for the extraordinary women of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. It has been an honor and a joy to once again celebrate your legacy through art and intention.
When I look at the women of Delta today, I see a radiant sisterhood—bold in voice, unwavering in service, and joyful in connection. You carry the vision of your Founders with grace and power, and it shows in everything you do.
When International President Elsie Cooke-Holmes first shared her vision for this project, she spoke with reverence for the past and bold optimism for the future. Her desire to honor the legacy and mobilize the mission through this quilt was both inspiring and humbling.
