About This Quilt
I created this Gift Quilt to celebrate those courageous steps of faith we take despite being afraid. Faith and fear work in a similar way—they just have different outcomes. Both are strengthened or weakened by our belief, and we are free, every day, to choose one over the other. But how we choose makes all the difference. That’s why I chose to depict this woman doing just that—shoulders back, walking away from fear and toward something greater. The various shades of blue in her gown evoke a range of positive emotions, from stability and authority to inspiration and freedom.
Just as I’d encourage someone to walk away from an abusive lover, I encourage them to walk away from fear. Fear is a liar, and it can be a destructive emotion. That’s why we were not given a spirit of fear, but one of power, love, and a sound mind.
